Hi-
I would like to hang this cabinet in my kitchen but I don't think it's meant to be hung or to hold very much weight. I bought it at an auction and in retrospect, I think it may have been the upper part of a hutch or china cabinet of some sort. I would still like to hang it (and safely store my dishes) but, it seems obvious that I need to reinforce it in some way so that it doesn't come crashing down!
Wooden braces screwed onto the back?
Mounting it onto some kind of wooden shelf and bracket set-up to distribute the weight?
Any ideas would be helpful!

fafnir,

It is surely possible to reinforce your cabinet but it is quite difficult to tell you how without seeing it.

I have done this by putting a board on the back with a rabbit joint cut around the perimeter and glued/screwed it in. Then put extra screws into the side joints.

How are the back and sides constructed? What type of material? How thick? Can you post a photo? We can help after we get a better idea of what we are dealing with.
