What do you guys think? We are purchasing new Whirlpool top load washer and electric dryer and can't decide about getting extended warranty with it or not.

Any suggestions?

Extended warranties are sold because the companies make money on them. On rare occasion, you might come out ahead by buying one, but you will spend more money overall if you buy them every time. I recommend opening a savings account and dumping the cost of the warranty in there every time you buy something and are pitched an extended warranty. Then repairs are paid for out of this account. Over time, you'll see the balance in the account slowly grow.

I agee with Mitch. I was in the same dilemma but I chose not to go with the extended warranty...put money aside like Mitch said. Plus you can always come here on DIY and people here may be able to help with any problems. :)
