Hello,

Does any one know where I can find step by step instructions for installing replacement window on a brick house. The openings are 6' x 3' so I may need to install 2 double hung windows.

My local Home Depot had a free pamphlet from American Craftsman (window manufacturer) that detailed step by step what you are wanting to do.

You might also try this site, it has video clips (which I haven't myself viewed) on how to remove old windows and install new ones in brick construction.

BTW, I just installed vinyl windows in place of old steel windows in my brick home. Putting the windows in was the easy part. Getting the old steel frames out was the hard part. I hope for your sake that you are replacing old aluminum windows. Also, if you are going with aluminum over vinyl because of price, check out Lowe's. Here in Texas they stock Pella windows for new construction. I used a Saws All to cut off the nailing falang, and they worked great as replacement windows. They were about the same price as stocked aluminum windows. If you are going to buy aluminum windows with the thermal break, then the vinyl were much cheaper - and you get a tax credit for doing vinyl :)
