Hi. We have an unfinished downstairs (on the side of a hill, so not technically a basement) that we are about to finish out. It appears to me that the footings were poured, and then they came back in and poured the slab.

The problem is that in some places, the slab is not the same height as the footing. Some places the two are level, some places they're 1/2" off, and in some places the slab is a full 1 to 1 1/4" lower than the footing. These footings extend about 3-4 inches past the finished wall.

We want to put down carpet, but don't want people stubbing their toes if they walk next to the wall. What should we do to level it/bring the slab up to the height of the footing?

Many thanks - Mary Ann
