I have an older Caloric Heritage gas range. The pilot light has gone out and I can't re-lite it. (Gas is getting to the unit as the burners still work fine.) Can you offer any advice on how I can lite the pilot on this model oven? It's possible my oven's gas lines are clogged but it's also possible I don't know the correct procedure.

Hello isuzufan and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.

Be glad to try and help but detailed information is lacking.

Assuming you are referring to the oven pilot? If the appliance is
20 yrs? old may not have a constant burning pilot flame. 50 yrs? old likely to have a constant burning flame.

Most older models, more than 20 yrs old likely to have a reset button that needs to be pushed in and held in, depressed, to light a pilot flame.

Once flame at pilot is established, re-set button must be held in for about 60 seconds before being released. Pilot flame should than remain on.

The trick here is to know what type of pilot flame assembly and safety system the appliance has on the oven. You will need to explain such in complete details as best as you can.

The link below should contain all the needed info. Reading it will help and be much quicker. You only need to determine what applies to the appliance you have and then follow the instructions.

My experience with older Caloric ovens has been they use a flame switch system. There is no button to hold. This is a constant pilot. Find the pilot and light it. Now if it doesn't support a flame the orifice may be restricted or the adjustment valve may be partially closed and not allow enough gas thru to light.
