Hi All:
Was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of paint to use for my kitchen table. Not sure about safety issues. Thank you for your advice.

If it takes a beating from small kids, floor paint starts to sound good. Quite durable.

What type of coating [if any] is on the table now?

Thanks for the response guys! The table had a clear finish on it. I have already stripped that off. Just wasn't sure of the finish in the type of paint to use to be putting food and utensils on.

Oil base both adheres better and dries harder than latex. As long as the paint doesn't chip I don't think there would be any problem - I wouldn't want to eat either
I would use a good oil base primer and either top coat with oil enamel or waterborne enamel [not latex] which dries just as hard.
