I plan on applying traditional cement-stucco to the interior walls around my fireplace mantel. I want to build out the wall a little and I would like to know what a suitable material for the substrate would be. OSB, drywall, cement or gypsum board? Also do I have to add lime to the cement and sand mix. I am hearing conflicting views on this. Any help would be appreciated.
