Is a trap necessary on a vertical install? The reason I ask. My unit sits in a closet in the garage. Line stubs out from evaporator like 3 inches then drops straight down to a drain. On horizantals I know there should be one but is it NECESSARY to have one on a vertical install?

On some unit .YES its all in if the blower sucks the air through the coil you need a P trap if the blower blows through the coil then you dont.
