I'm looking to cool a garbage room in order to keep the odours down. I was under the impression that this was common for nursing home applications but have been unsuccessful in finding a manufacturer. I'm considering the use of a typical convenience store walk in cooler evaporator. It would only have to be approximately a 1 ton unit. Does anyone know of any manufacturers who deal in refuse refrigeration?

I've not heard of that idea but what we've used in the past is an ozone machine. If sized right they work pretty good.

Sounded like a good idea, but I found:
Following a review of current information and in consultation with Health Canada and others, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) recently made the decision not to certify these products for household use and have issued new interim requirements for commercial units.
So I'm a bit hesitant to put ozone machines in use.

Dont know what you have there to work with?? How about just a 1 ton thru-the wall unit.
Single packaged air units Duct it in.
Then we have the ductless systems
Can try BOHN they make a lot of walk in box coils Then get a high side for it.
Have fun

We might go with a typical air cooled split system with the condenser outside. I spoke with some Reps. at Fulton, they say this is often the solution for refuse rooms & that they normally keep them around 55-60 degrees.
Also,
http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html
is a publication by the US Environmental Protection Agency about Ozone generators & how they basically don't work and can be harmful. May be a good read for people who are using or thinking of using them.
Thanks for your help.
