To start, my home has a brick exterior, and I just ran the venting through the brick for my direct vent furnace and powervent water heater. I also just had my electrical service upgraded so I have a bit of an opening around the 2" rigid at the service entrance. I'm wondering what the best way to fill in around these holes is? Is it as simple as mixing some mortar and packing in the opening? I wouldn't think the pvc would have any problem, but is there any concern with packing mortar around galvanized pipe?

Mortar will corrode the galvanized fitting.

Investigate foam insulation in a can. After the foam solidifies on the exterior, clear away enough to lay in a 1/4 inch layer of silicone caulk to weatherproof.

Thanks. That's what I figured.

If the gap is not too large, you can fill with a foam backer rod. The rod is a closed cell flexible foam rod (various diameters) available from big boxes if you ask or look. Force it into the gap so it is below the surface and caulk.
