I removed and bought a new condenser motor that match the specs of my old one (1/2 hp at 1100 rpm). My question is my old motor had 3 wires coming out of if and the new motor has 4. The old had a black, yellow, brown and the new has a black, white, brown, and brown with white stripe. I need help matching the wires.
thanks:confused:

Wire it the way the new motors schematic shows you.

The black and white are line voltage and the browns are capacitor wires. Did you get a new capacitor when you bought it ?

I did get a new capacitor, but it doesn't look like the capacitor the other motor was connected to. The original Cap. has 3 recepticals or 3 areas for connection while the new cap. has 2 areas of connections. When I connect the brown wires to the new capacitor the fan spins in the wrong direction.

Its the motor that will say what way it turns. check the paper work that came with it lots of motors can be turned around in the motor.
The Cap that came with it is ok.

Does the new motor have like a purple and yellow wire that come out of and right back into the motor and appear to have plugs on them ? If so you unplug them and switch them around. So if you have purple to purple and yellow to yellow switch them so it's purple to yellow and purple to yellow.

Yes, the motor I bought does have the yellow and purple wires coming out. I did what you said and BAM !! now the blower's spinning in the right direction.
Thank you very much Mattison!:D
