I'll be getting some Sure-Klean 600 to clean up a sloppy red brick mailbox column job.

Maybe the product instructions will tell me when I go buy it, but should I clean the structure from bottom up, or top down?

I have an aluminum mailbox insert in it, with a black painted door and box rim surrounding. -I'm guessing this acid will foul that finish; any ideas on how to "protect" it during the cleaning?

-Ideas I had were trying to mask it off with some sort of super tape, but maybe the acid will just eat through it. Maybe coat it with grease/vaseline or some other odd-ball idea....

Any advise appreciated....

Just follow the intsructions and do not delay any longer than you have to. Mask the metal and keep the entire area wet.
