Used a diluted muriatic acid + water solution to clean rust stains on driveway but it darkened (browned/yellowed) the area I treated. What can I do to 'bring the regular grey color back" ?

You can't, and muriatic will not remove rust stains.

but the rust is gone... (I guess with the "cream" from the concrete surface as well)

Right, you removed the cement, not the rust. The only thing you can do is skim coat it with a repair mortar, but it will be very dark gray and probably fail anyway.

thanks. one last thought...anyway to bleach the entire area? The driveway is only 4 months old so still grey.

You could acid stain the whole thing about the same color as the area the you burned.
