I have six boxes of discontinued laminate flooring. I need an additional 2 boxes to complete a project involving about 200 square feet. Actually I could use 4 boxes if I could find any anywhere.

1) Should I try and locate 2 to 4 boxes? Where does one finf discontinued product? I have checked both nationally and locally without any significant leads. It seems people are in the dark about the discontinued products and aren't especially helpful. Is there a national clearinghouse or something of this nature for discontinued laminate products?

2) Should I try and get 2 to 4 boxes of something similar and combine the two brands with an improvised, homemade customized joint? Or is this alternative not worth pursuing?

3) Is it smarter just to scrap the idea of using the original material altogether for this project and buy enough totally new, different material to complete the project without hassles?

Your input is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the DIY forums Rcansaw.

Did you by chance get these boxes for free? (I'm thinking you didn't-but hoping you did!) :(

I've tried doing a search but I couldn't find any for you. It's been over an hour so I give up!:wall: You could always trying call every store in town..

In any case...my opinion, I would start with new flooring. At least this way you can (and should) buy more than enough (and buy extra boxes for those times you might need to replace). I would not try #2 (your alternative). If you have the option to get different flooring...that's the route I would take.
