I want to enclose our single bay carport that has a curb of approx. 1 1/2" high in the slab, at an adjacent storage closet. I'd like to pour a topping layer on the lower portion of the slab to bring it up to the higher portion of the slab at the storage closet. And, I'd like to stain the resulting slab as the finished floor. The required volume for the topping is approx. 24 cubic feet.

Two options have come to mind:

1) pour (sand mix?) topping up to a PT double sole plate anchored to existing slab, scratching existing slab for bond
2) pour new topping to edge of existing slab using bonding adhesive and anchor new walls through new topping

How best to do this?

Thanks.
