Hi guys! New poster to the forums.
I recently used a commercial carpet cleaner which resulted in serious buckling (I believe that is the correct term - floor boards are pushing upwards in a "tent-like" fashion) in several places on the floor.
Let me add that I am completely incompetent when it comes to DIY projects. I have NO CLUE what I am doing. I have removed the carpet and padding, but I don't know what to do next (other than call a pro).
The floor in question is over the basement. Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to have a pro come in and fix the damaged boards? I know this is tough, not being able to see the floor and all, but I am looking for a ballpark figure. The floor area is about 500 sq ft and it does not appear that the entire floor is damaged.

you mean you used a carpet shampoo machine in a carpeted room that's adjacent to your wood-floored room? and you think the carpet got so wet that it seeped into the wood-floored room & under the wood, causing it to buckle?
or do you mean the flooring UNDER the carpet is buckling?

YIKES!
If you got it that wet, the carpet will be delaminated and buckle, too. Basically ruining the carpet.
If the wood flooring buckled, pull the carpet and padding up and get fans and dehumidifiers in the room and basement, going full blast. :wall:
