Hi:
Two days ago, I noticed one section of the hardwood floor was a kind of 'bumpy,' and discovered this to be caused by a small amount of water-leakage coming from nearby-pipe. Practically, water-leakage went underneath the floor to lift some of hardwood from concrete.

I called a plumber right away. However, wonder whether a few of those 'warped' and dented hardwood floor gets to normal, 'levelled'/flatten once the moisture under the floor recedes? Or, those 'warped' hardwood floor should be removed and put a new set of hardwood floor by hiring a professional? The affected floor is minimum:o , about 3 ft. x 2 ft.

Your opinion and knowledge on this regard would be truly appreciated.

Running dehumidifier to remove excess humidity and expedite drying out of floor may return floor to original flatness. If not, it is possible to remove pieces of hardwood from inconspicuous area such as a closet to replace affected boards. New boards can be installed where older boards were borrowed.

I am not a contractor, but have had a personal experience with this. We had water come under our hardwood due to a defect in our french doors. Basically rain was coming in. All of the water was seeping in under the planks, never on top. Over time my hardwood started to cup in places and also "tented" in certain spots. On top of that, over time some planks began to crack and split. It was not attractive. We had a contractor rip up the damaged planks and noticed a bit of black mold in places. For both aesthetics and potential issues with black mold, I would rip those planks out. It sucks but its better than the alternative.
