Hi, I am installing laminate flooring in the hallway and 3 bedrooms.
My question is where should I leave the 1 inch gap required for t-molding under the doorway. Should it be under the doorstop or directly under the door? or does it matter. It would be easier for me to install in under the door, then when I install the flooring in each bedroom I just have to follow the perimeter of the wall without extending into the hallway.

:) Appreciate any advice.

The T-molding should be right under the actual door. So, when you close the door, the T-mold should fit right under it so it is not shown when you shut the door. The T-mold should be installed last - after the flooring is installed.

I installed laminate flooring on the whole second floor of my house (incl. closet and hallway). I installed the T-molding directly under the doorstop. Even if the door not right over the T-molding, it still looks good, b ut I think it is more of a preference. Remember, the T-molding has the purpose of transitioning from one room to the other, since you cannot lay laminate continuously through openings narrower the 4 feet, it does not serve as a threshold. So centerline of doorstop was center of the 1-inch gap for the T-molding. I used a little "Dove Tail Saw" to undercut the doorjambs and doorstop so the laminate flooring and T-molding would fit underneath. Hope this helps, good luck.
