I need to trailer my motorcycle (Harley Sportster). I know nothing about 'chocks'. Do I need one for the front and back... or just for the front tire.

Do you recommend any particular brand?

Will the $40 models do the job?

You don't really need any at all, but they do make strapping the bike down easier.

That being said, if your trailer has a wood floor, you can nail a 2x4 on each side of the front wheel if it makes you feel better. :)

Run the bike all the way up the trailer, so the front tire is touching the front of the trailer.

Strapping down is the important part, run a strap on each side of the handle bar, towards the front, _compressing the forks_ as much as possible. Run a strap on each side of the back, towards the rear of the trailer in the same fashion.

This keeps the bike from moving forwards or backwards. Compressing the forks mean when you hit a bump, the straps don't come loose.

If you really must have chocks, and want some to use for years to come, I recommend the Baxley chocks. You can simply mount these to the trailer, then drive into them and get off. The chocks flip to hold the bike up while you strap it down. Great if you are by yourself.

Not cheap, around $250 or so. They also sell the most expensive (and probably the nicest) motorcycle trailer on the market.

Hi, As said by Pendragon save your money and build it.
Search some sites on Google to get ideas and make one out of some 2x4's and paint it black.
Check this one out. You could probably build it for $20.00.

I ended up buying the cheap chock(removeable) off of ebay and paid about half for what they were selling for in the stores. The mck2 looks slick. Maybe I'll build one someday.

Thanks for your help!!
