Hi! Can someone please answer an ironing question for me? My husband & I have different views on this & he's usually right about everything, so I AT LEAST want to be right on an ironing issue, for Heaven's sake!! (tee-hee!)
Ok. Say you're ironing & you're supposed to use a dry iron. Do you still fill the iron with water, but set it to not steam? I think that no matter what, you should fill an iron with water. But you don't have to use the steam when there's water in it. I would think that the iron would burn out quickly. I'd appreciate any input. Thank you very much!

Steam is an accessory. The iron will not burn up since the water is held in a reservoir and the water only turns to steam when it is in the steam mode. The water does not get hot until you switch to steam mode.

So my husband is right again! He's a smart man. I'm not a competitive person, really, it's just that he's 34 & I'm 42. I should be the one teaching HIM a thing or 2!! (tee-hee!)
Thank you for answering my question. I've also learned that I should trust what my husband says more often! Thanks! Have a good day!

It's not a question of being right or wrong. My wife and I go through this all the time. We usually split 50/50 in both areas. Strange thing is, I do the cooking and she fixes the vehicles. Just depends on what you know more about. Lean on your strengths and learn from your weaknesses.

I know it's not a matter of whose right or wrong. We get along perfectly & have for 13 years. I just play around with the fact that my husband always seems to be right! It's fun!
Thank you very much for you help - I really appreciate it. Take care! Sentrase

You don't have to have water in the iron but it is handy to have it there especially if you're ironing more than one thing. It does not hurt the iron to have the water in it therefore I always have water in mine. Just make sure it is not on the steam setting when you need a dry iron.
