Can anyone suggest what to do with all the cable for a wall mounted flat screen LCD. Our flatscreen will be mounted above the mantle and there are no options for hiding, nor storing, the direct tv reciever/dvr, the dvd, stereo, etc. I have a friend who said I could run them all to a closet or something but he has no idea how. Is this possible, if so how? and how do you function the stuff if it is in a closet out of view of a remote?:wall

First off...I bet it would probably look really nice above the mantel, but do you use the fireplace? You might want to be concerned with the heat.
Would it be too high up when you watch? (Neck pain issues?)
Besides those issues, is there space for a set up? Like perhaps a nice stand or something?

It is possible. You need to run all of your wires/cables in-wall to the closet. In order for your remotes to work, you need to purchase something called an "IR Repeater". Basically, it allows you to mount single detector near your TV which will pass your remote commands to a receiver located somewhere else (say, in a closet) that relays the signal/command to the appropriate component via an emitter which attaches to the little red window (detector) located on the receiver/VCR/DVD player/ etc.).

That is exactly what I was wondering. Is there an IR Repeater that is better than another? Also, we have decided to mount it to the right of the fire place which conveniently is the wall directly oposite of our master. I know that I can run my dvd, stereo, etc. into the master and just relay them from the other side of the wall into the T.V.
Anyone have any cool ideas that I can do since I have both rooms that close. I have Direct TV and one thing I would like to do is when we record on the DVR, it would be awesome to be able to watch in the den or in the master. I am not very tech. savvy but I know most of you are... any cool ideas?
