Hey, I've been doing some searches on here and think that I may need some freon, and wanted to get your thoughts, I'm in central FL, came homw fri after work to find the AC just blowing air, same temp as the inside of the house, about 93, all the fans work fine air is moving through the ducts, I took off the front panels, It's a Trane TWE042c14FCO made in 03/2001, ask if you want to know more, and it's dry, all the way around .....DRY, after running nonstop overnight. So what's you's think. :wall:
I'm all so thinking that there's a leak some where....? Has to be right? So what am I looking at to get this fixed? Ballpark wise.
I'm SOOO sick of this FL sticky heat.
Thanks guys.

Not near enough info yet to even speculate. Is the outside unit running? If the outside fan is running is the tubes, big one cold, small one warm?

Yes the fan is running no the tubes are not. Not warm and not cold.
Please ask is you need any other info, the blower motor works also.

Just because the fan is running doesnt mean the compressor is. It is possible the compressor is locked up or going out on overload because of low refrigerant charge etc. In either case you should not run the system until you know exactly what it is (or you risk causing permenant damage to the compressor, if it hasnt happened already). Try turning the breaker off, opening the condenser and feeling the compressor. If it is very hot then leave the system off for a couple of hours and try to run it again. Hopefully the compressor will turn on. Weather it does or not, you will most likely need to call a qualified contractor to check it for you.

Most Trane units have a 10 year warranty. You might look for your papers and see if you have such and just call the company that installed the unit.

Well the guys came out today, hooked up the leve readers and said the freon was at a negative level, it was funny to see their faces when they read that. So now we need to find the leak @ $65 an hour...seems high but.... it gets 95 in here by 1-2 pm
Thanks idmason60 :thinker: I've have to try and see about that; of course w/ most of the work already done by these guys, I'm sure the other company that installed it won't reimburse me. But I'll look into it.
