Hi all,
I recently had to put in a new outside unit fan motor and capicator.
The unit (Carrier 2000) runs great for an hour then quits.
The two ac lines are fine, no freeze up. Thought at first it might be a shut off switch in the compressor but who knows for sure. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks

You first need to determine if the thermostat is shutting it off or if there is a problem.
When the unit outside turns off check for 24v on the coil of the contactor.

Never thought about the contactor coil will try that. Just put in a new thermostat in Sat thinking it might solve the problem...it didn't but anyway appreciate the help will see what happens tomorrow nite. Thanks again

Again appreciate the info, I checked the Fan motor for same
HP, RPM and when it ran (clockwise) that was the same direction as the old motor, but now the unit won't run at all so I'll go ahead and replace the contactor just in case that might be the problem, if that doesn't work (limited budget) I'll grab a few window units and save up for an HVAC visit. Again thanks

Have you had a chance to replace it yet and if so did that work?
