Air Conditioning - No Hot Air

Hi folks was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. My A/C just kicked it last night .

Symptoms:
Unit is blowing out unconditioned air (not cool, literally and figuratively)

Trouble Shooting:
Filter is new and doesn’t need cleaning
No Freezing on either line
Lines are nether hot nor cold
Condenser fan is running fine when tripped by the thermostat
Air flow is great
Condenser unit is clean and clear of debris
Don’t hear compressor kicking on, or trying to kick on.

History:
Last session the duel capacitor was replaced
Unit must be close to 20 years old

Questions:
Could it be the capacitor again?
Is my compressor shot?
Could it need more refrigerant? If so does that indicate a leak in the lines?

Thanks for the quick response Ed. I will check the capacitor first thing when I get home. It was late and dark last night and didn’t fell like pulling apart my unit under my deck. Again, as far as I can tell (no sound when engaged by the thermostat) the compressor does not or is not trying to turn on. If it was low on refrigerant or having a leak would it still be trying to kick on

Is this new ????? if unit blowes up it needs about 6ft clear above it??????
Even with a low switch cut out it should just try and start for a little bit

It actually sits right next to my deck but the fuse box and lines all run under my deck.

I originally thought that if my capacitor was dead my condenser fan would not work, but my compressor would try until it overheated. Is the opposite true? Can a bad capacitor let the fan run but the compressor not?

Yes, it can. It could also be the contactor. A 20 year old unit sometimes broke only one leg of the 240v going to the compressor so if one side of the contactor goes to the fan and the other to the compressor, and the side going to the compressor goes bad then the fan will run but the compressor will not.

Thanks for all your help guys. It seems the cluprit was a a fried wire/connectoin at the capasitor.
