Last weekend I came across a small plant stand at a yard sale. The table stands about 18-inches high and has a octagon shaped top. It had a ratty old finish on it and some minor water damage on the octagon top, probably from a plant overflowing. It was held together with screws and came apart rather easily. After sanding the top and the legs, it appears to be redwood heart wood. The grain is very tight and straight and there are no knots. I'm guessing it's at least 50 years old. Has anybody ever seen one of these?

I plan to use it for it's intended purpose, as a plant stand. Any recommendations on finishing? I'd like to find some thing shows off the grain.
