Air Conditioning - ac problem or problems

I have a payne heat pump that is 6 yrs old has run fine until about 4days ago came home house was 90 degrees it was 85 outside. went to outside unit compressor huming but fan not shut down unit. then restarted same thing helped fan get going by using stick it ran. sometimes fan will start sometimes not so replaced fan motor it had a lot of end play in it. could not find same motor replaced with one that only diff. is rpm 25 less. and has its own cap. unit ran good for 2 days then compressor would not come on sometimes. had service tech come out he said unit low on freon charged it up. now it runs about 1hr then the condenser fan turns off while compressor still hums. unit gets hot quickly. so replaced the cap for the compressor it has dual cap. could not get exact same one but parts people said this was its replacement. hooked up still same problem but sometimes fan will not come on at first start up. what would cause condenser fan to kick out after unit is running. but leave compressor running. also noticed that contactor was pitted and making noise so replaced it too still same problems

I don't mean this to sound mean or anything...but I think you need a pro assist.

From reading your post you have replaced parts with non equivalent parts, and mis matched parts. While the end result may get you going it does not sound like a safe repair.

When the fan is operating, is it blowing the air up out of the unit through the top ?? Did you place the fan blade in the shroud properly ??

had service man come out checked work I had done he said all was ok. that unit was low on freon he charged up unit. and left but same problem still happening. I now have a different service tech coming this afternoon. will keep posted on what he finds.

Another question, has the outdoor coil been cleaned good with a water hose from the inside out ??

yes I did try that and it did have alot of old grass clippings in it also yes the fan blowing up and in shroud correctly. thanks for your help it is an odd deal looked like bad cap at first as unit would run if you help get it going. service tech at noon hope he is good.

Did the tech check the defrost board here?????

no he did not I will pass on to new tech I suspect somethig in the 24vac controls thanks for the help maybe this will help solve this quicker.

ed you win the gold star it was the defrost board. tech bypassed until he can get a board. thanks to all of you he had it going in about 5min.
