i have a RCA tube television...nothing fancy...not a flat screen...just a plain ole tube television...i bought it about 7 years ago...it has been flawless until today...

i was watching tv this morning and it turned itself off...now, i can't turn it back on...i have checked the outlet because our cable box is connected to the same outlet through a surge protector...

i have unplugged the tv and plugged it back in...nothing happens...

it will no longer turn on...i don't hear anything when i press the power key...i don't smell anything..

any ideas??? should i try to repair or just buy a new one...???

thanks...michael

Happened to me three times. The power supply is shot. There is a fuse but it did not help mine to replace it. It blew immediately on powering on again. It has to go to a repair shop. Mine was $132 each time.

Brand new, non-fancy, non-flat screen, 27 inch TVs are cheap ($190-$250). I would buy a new one.

Look on the bright side, you got 7 years out of it. That seems like a long time these days.
