We had our new guest bath tiled a couple months ago. It is ceramic subway tile...I believe 2 x 4". I noticed yesterday that the vertical grout line between the wall that has the shower valve and the side tub wall has cracked (fine crack) from top to bottom. I'm not sure when it happened as we don't use that bathroom normally.
Is this a normal occurrence? Is it something that the tile guys are responsible to come fix? What would be the solution....regrouting or putting silicone caulk there instead?
I tried to push on each wall and noticed no movement of the walls in relation to each other.
The underlayment is durarock screwed every few inches.
Thanks.
Dave

Dave: Yes, this is probably normal with the expansion and contraction of your house. All your inside corners and splash surfaces should have a bead of color coordinated GE Silicone II. It will expand and contract without cracking. I never apply grout at inside corners just for that reason. It's gonna crack. I'd rather have something in there that will give and take.
