Our roof mounted a/c unit just started to rumble, I should say it's made the house rumble. It's 15 years old, has worked fine and cools the house even now. It did sit idle for 3-4 years before we moved in though. Had it inspected and cleaned and it checked out OK. We're in Las Vegas and it's been over 100 deg. for a couple weeks now. I did notice a couple of days ago there was an awful lot of water coming from the drain tube, more than usual.
Any ideas as to why it would suddenly make so much noise?
Thanks, cwd

Is this a self contained unit? Meaning you don't have a furnace or air handler in the house.

Either way it needs to be inspected hands on. You may have a broken fan/blower mount, you could have a forign object in the blower, a broken fan blade, etc......

Yes it is a self contained unit. Heater and A/C unit. I'm going up this morning to check it out. I'll check the fan, fan mount, motor mount and check all fastners and ??? to see if anything has come loose or broken.
Thanks for the reply.
