The control board on my Friedrich through-the-wall air conditioner (Model SS12J30A, 250 V) has shorted out twice in the last 8 years. These boards are expensive, and I'm not too happy with their shorting out so often. Could there be something wrong with the power in the house? Or is it just the way these boards are made?
Would it help if I put in a 250V surge protector?
Also, is there anything to watch out for when changing the control board?
Thanks.
