I have a mid 90's Toshiba 35" TV. Recently I noticed I had to turn it up louder than usual to hear it. Not a big deal for me since I only watch baseball.
But last night the family was watching a musical and you could not hear the main audio. So I paid more attention and here is what I found. The center speaker in the tv body seems to be off. The only sound is coming from the speakers on each side of the front of the TV.
Is that speaker gone? Fixable? Or is this some sort of "set up" menu issue?
Thanks as always.

Depending on the model you set may have a small board for the audio. These boards go bad over time and the sound gets muffeled.

I have a 40 inch Toshiba projection TV, about 5 years old. I was having a similar audio problem noticed while watching baseball. I noticed that I could not hear the commentators unless I turned the volume up so high that the stadium crowd noise became annoyingly loud. I moved the TV to a different room the other day and while re-connecting the cables in back, I noticed that there is an "on/off" switch for "center speaker." Mine was "off" for some reason. TV previously was connected to a home theater system so I must have turned off this center channel at some point. So yesterday I turned it back on. Can't complete the story right now because I haven't had a chance to watch any baseball to see if this fixed the problem. But my suggestion, as a complete amateur(!), is to check and see if you have an off/on switch for your center speaker and if it is on.
