I have a teak veneer dining room table that is marked. I took it to a teak refinisher who didn't want to deal with it because he said the chemicals would ruin the veneer. Is there something I can use to clean it and remove small scratches?

Several questions I have to ask before I can give a dependable answer:
1) How big are the scratches--- meaning specifically do the scratches only mar the finish on the table or do they go all the way to the wood?
2) What is the finish? Did you finish the table or was it finished by a manufacturer or an independant furniture maker? The answer will likely reveal the finish used.
3) Don't be afraid to consult other experts in your area. You may only need what's called a "burn-in" whereby a colored wax is melted or otherwise embedded into the scratches to conceal them. Expect good work but expect *no* miracles.
Hopefully your answers will give us a chance to help you out. Teak is some nice stuff.

The scratches are quite superficial. There are areas of "dullness" that are more noticeable and areas around the edges which I assume are from people resting their hands and arms on the table. The table came with the lacquer finish from the manufacturer and it is about 12 years old. Thanks for your help.
