My girlfriend decided to take down the old ceiling fan but didn't tag any of the wires and cannot recall what she disconnected. So now I have a set of blue, white, yellow and red wires from the cieling and a black, blue and white from the the ceiling fan. I know the white goes to white and the ground to the ground but the rest are throwing me off. Any suggestions?

Was it controlled by a light switch? If so you need to see what wires go to the switches.
