Hi, I was looking for some tips, I recently have been introduced to an epoxy product -Envirotex Lite polymer epoxy resin- that hardens anything that it is spread on. I was thinking over painting a faux stone look on styrofoam and then coating it and using as a floor tile. Has anyone had any experience similiar to this? Any tips?

Thanks
Dave

Wouldn't an epoxy resin melt a styrofoam? epoxy is usually hot, it just seems like a general chemistry premise that this application would not be recommended.

Hi Kim, epoxy is not hot, its like a thick plastic glue that drys and hardens. Real interesting stuff.

Using such a product on styrofoam will not provide sufficent strength to prevent crushing of the surface when normal floor forces are applied. Suggestion: create a test sample and test its strength with weight and also impact. What happens when you drop a heavy object(15 POUNDS) and hard from a height of 4 feet?
This should answer your question.
