Curious..
Code states flourescents are ok in closets if the lamps are covered. would the protective tubes meet this requirement?
(plastc tube over lamp) Like in the old Kitchen installs.

It would seem to me to meet code, but who am I? They are "covered". We used to use them at the airline catering company I worked at for some time over food prep areas. It did protect them from contact damage.

I re-read 410b, and it really doesn't address "covered" fluorescents, just fluorescents. See what you think.

Check with local building inspector. Codes can vary from area to area. "Closed light cover" is the language used. Also, certain clearances have to be maintained.
