Does anyone see a problem with putting drywall over knotty pine walls? My son purchased a house with an add on den that has knotty pine on the walls and it looks like an old hunting lodge. I am hoping putting drywall over it would be easier than removing it first and then putting up the drywall. Any thoughts or options would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Covering Knotty pine sounds like a naughty thing to do.

Although I disagree with painting or covering up nice looking wood it can be done. The biggest factors to contend with are the trim will need to be removed and modified before it can be reinstalled and you will need to extend all electrical boxes with box extenders.
BTW what's wrong with old hunting lodges :D

You are really in for alot of work, as Marksr said. Trim, electrical, everything will need to be modified. As much as I hate to paint good wood, priming and painting it may be your best bet. If you lived in our area, the hunting lodge look is what is in 80% of the new "summer" homes for the sometimes residents. You may be sitting on a gold mine and just don't know it.
