hi all,
i build a motorized scooter with a Stihl chainsaw engine, i put a wrong ratio without a cluch and what happen is the end of the crank shaft was broke .
what should i do to put a pulley on the crankshaft ?
friend was tell me to take a tube that "sit" good on the broke crank shaft, take the tube heated (not on the engine) and spray on the crankshaft fire extinguisher and put the hot tube quickly on the crank and that make the crank longer.
what do you think about this idea ?
ther is any idea that good and easy of that idea ?
the picture of the engine (http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1615/spa02788vq.jpg)

why not get a new crank and put it in? putting something "over" it will probably end up slipping sooner or later.

Hi, All is not lost with this crankshaft. I had repairs made like this but I only did it because the old 2 stoke I had was so old I couldn't find parts. The job wasn't cheap. Have a machinist cut a shaft on a lathe the right OD. Have a welder weld your new shaft to the crankshaft. Then find a engine building machine shop and have the crankshaft balanced. Bring the new pulley when you have it balanced.

sounds like it would be easier/cheaper/better to buy a new motor. lots of them on ebay pretty cheap.

Hi, That depends on what kind of welder is going to be used. A stick welder or a wire welder.

HI, Then you need electrodes for cast. Ask your welding supplier for them.

looks like it ended at about $500.00 . Thats kinda high, even compared to others selling on there. About twice as much. It had 31 bids, and 2 people wanted it pretty bad, looking at the bids. Over 700 views! Wow.
That other one(new still in box is at 600 euros, around $760.00. I think i need to start selling weed eaters over there!
