I'm looking at adding some water leak sensors to my Ademco system. From looking at the sensors, they seem to be only a block with two contacts. Is it possible to simply mount the sensor wires on the wall so that they are just above the floor. Since water is a natural conductor, if there is a leak, I would think that it would be enough to close the circuit.

Believe it or not, fresh water is largely an insulator. It takes a fairly significant amount of contamination before water will conduct. The water sensors have an element that provides the conductivity when water comes into contact.
