Please help. After removing a cheap tablecloth from my oak table the white fuzzy reside is now stuck on top of my table. I believe that some water spilled on top of it so I am surprised that it doesn't just wipe off. I have tried to pick it off and that doesn't work, neither does dissolve it. I do not want to damage the table, but is there anything that will remove this white stuff?

almost sounds like there is a form of residue left on the surface from the tablecloth. i would go with a vinegar water mix and spray onto surface let sit for a minute or 2 and wipe dry. 8oz of vinegar/gal of water. Test any diy method in a hidden area.

If lacquer finish, #0000 superfine steel wool and mineral spirits may be effective. Rub lightly in direction of grain. Test first for ill effects on finish. Mineral spirits should not harm lacquer.

Try a product called "JASCO" Furniture white ring remover. I bought it a Lowe's or Home Depot, can't remember where.

Try "Skin so Soft" bath oil by Avon. It works on most all sticky problems.
