I have a lynxr-en control panel. I already have had installer come out and install motion sensors and door & windows sensors (for opening etc.). My neighborhood has had a few breakins in the past 2 years via breaking windows -> I purchased 5800ss1 shock sensors on ebay and attempted to use the voice programming but don't seem to be getting where I want. Can someone help me in setting this up? I am a network administrator, with the exception of not totally understanding the whole zone thing etc., I could follow a little more precise detailed instructions as the Lynxr-en manual doesn't cover doing shock sensors although the series is supported.

Thanks

You will have to enter this one using *56. The voice prompt system is for the most common programming tasks. This is not a common task.

I intend to add 6 glass shock sensors.

Ok, so if I go into *56, then can you help answer a few questions? I am looking in the manual, and once in *56, I have the 12 sub menu items.

First one, A (zone number) - says zone 2 - 25 is RF zones only, do I just pick a number? are the numbers already assigned to other devices? How do I know which number 2-25 to use?

Second, b (zone type) - what would I use for shock sensors -> 03 perimeter, 05 trouble day/alarm night, something else?

Third, C (report code) - do I just continue through or assign something here?

Fourth, d (Input type) - the shock device instructions say to use input type 3

Fifth, E (loop number) - the shock device instructions say to use loop 1

Sixth, F (Delete zone) - skip?

Seventh, IA LC (enroll mode) - Would I just tap the device (the shock device says to just tap the device to transmit serial)

Eighth, 1b (serial number) - skip because of seventh step?

Ninth, 1C (voice descriptor/ 0 to skip to next zone/1 to enter descriptor mode) - would I choose 1?

Tenth, Eleventh & Twelth seem self explanatory.

Thanks for any help in describing the options as the manual isn't very detailed in some of the items.

You add the zone numbers starting with the next unused zone number. Your existing devices started with 2 unless the original setup did something odd. Each transmitter is a zone.

I usually set up glass breaks the same as any window (perimeter).

If your system is local only, the report code doesn't matter, and can be skipped.

Transmitting takes the place of manually entering the serial number.

You can add the voice descriptor at this point, or go back and add it in *84.

Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I definitely have a better understanding of all of this.

Oh, in regards to the report code, my system does report to a call center (adt, california), is the report code something I would verify with them as of to what I input there? Would each glass breaker have a separate code or all use the same code?

That should cover everything, again -> thanks!

If you are using ADT, then the system is 99% likely to be sending Contact ID, which means all you have to do is enter 11 in the report code for each of them, and the system will generate the proper report code. You do need to tell them that you are adding zones to the system, or if they get a transmission IDing the new zones as the alarm source, there is a chance that their software will ignore the info as coming from an undefined zone.
