I saw the responses for getting ink off dry erase boards. My problem is the dry erase markers on the dry erase board won't come off. When I try the dry erase marker:( on another board, it wipes clean. Do boards go bad? It is is a 4x6 board and to replace would be spendy. Any solutions?

Is it a older board? What has been used to clean the board in the past. I was recently at a place that someone wrote on a board in sharpie. They got the sharpie off using strong solvents, but it damaged the writing surface of the board that allows the markers to be cleaned. Thus making the dry erase markers stain. Just some thoughts this may of happened in your case

Melamine boards require special maintenance, using only approved cleaning solutions. Do not leave marker on board for long periods. Replace dirty erases. Use only approved pens. Do not use permanent marker. Writing over what has been written with permanent marker with dry erase marker helps lift permanent marker. Note: Eventually clear coat on dry erase boards wear away and need to be replaced. Porcelain on steel boards tend to be more durable.

There is a product called Dry-Erase Board Polish And Cleaner (I've also seen it called conditioner) that will restore your dry erase board. They sell it at office supply stores. I've used it & it worked.
