I was given a kitchen table that is in really nice shape except for some scratches. The table top is pine and no real problem with the top. But the legs of the table, chair legs and back rests are hunter green. I guess it must have gotten nicked and scratched during moves. My question is how can I fix the scratches so they look less visable. I was thinking of getting some hunter green paint. But, do need to sand these scratches first and what kind of paint and paint brush would I use. Also how would I get the paint to match the green on the table and chairs.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If the scratches aren't too bad, sanding it should work.
If you go to any paint store or big box store, you or they should be able to come to a close match with the color. Either take some sample colors home or if you're able to detach a chair leg or table leg and take it to the store and match it up. Have them to a test spot and let it dry and see how the colors comes out prior to painting it.
Use a good quality paint and brush.

I don't know if the big box stores are capable of matching a color but all paint stores can. They should also be able to advise you on what type of paint would be best to go over the factory finish. They will also advise you on the proper brush and technique for applying the paint.
And yes you do have sand first

Marksr: UR right about the big box stores! Thanks for the correct and confirmation on sanding.
Oh yeah....you mentioned the table top is pine but what about the legs and chairs? I think that may make a difference but I assume they are pine too?

Paint wise it shouldn't make much difference what type of wood the legs or chairs are made of are made of. They are likely made of pine but it doesn't really matter for painting.
