Hi,

We have a Bryan 3.5 ton ac unit. It is not even 2 years old, but recently it has stopped cooling the house. It went from not cooling it a little (the thermostat was set on 78 and it was 80), not it is set on 63 and it is 83!!!!! The outside unit is on and there is some air moving through the vents, but it is cool....if that. Any suggestions on what we should look for?

Thanks!

Yes, filters just in 2 weeks. No ice outside on any lines. Big line outside is covered with some rubber insulated kind of thing, but stuck my hand in and it is cold...not wet though...

I have a similar situation (tech coming out tomorrow). I have a big line covered in some insulation and a small copper tube line along with it. the copper line is hot and the big line, I dont know because of the insulation. Should the copper line be hot?

ok thanks for the info ed.

The tech came out yesterday. The capacitor was fine. He said the fan motor was gone. Any idea on the price range for fan motors and the average labor required to replace it? They havent given me a priice yet, but it would be nice to have an idea. I think the unit is still under warranty but I think it only covers parts and not labor.
