Does anyone know how to remove the large black stain made by a shaggy ink-cap mushroom dissolving on a wool carpet?

Shaggy ink-cap mushrooms can be used to make ink and dye. Some plant dye stains are permanent. Test any DIY method first in inconspicuous place first for ill effects on unstable carpet dye. Dye stains can sometimes be removed with rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, or dry cleaning fluid. An enzyme digester cleaner may also produce some results. If in doubt, contact a carpet cleaning professional.

i would try the rubbing alcohol first. Make sure that if you choose to go another route. make sure the pH of the agent is below 9 high pH chemicals will damage wool. Steer clear of any oxidizing agents as well.

Oops! Thanks for pointing out that the carpet is wool. Do not use enzyme cleaners on wool or silk because they are organic. Enzymes digest organic materials.

there are oxidzing agents with neutral pH levels that are safe for wool. Stain Magic for wool comes to mind. But would use as a last resort.
