The Lowes near me has a constant supply of $1 gallon pot perennials of all sorts. Some of the leaves are brown but for the most part they look okay. If I were to plant them and they didn't do well this year, what are the chances they will be perfectly fine next year?

Thanks!

As long as plants are not diseased and become established, chances are pretty good that they will survive.

At the garden center where I work, many regular customers tell me about their thriving gardens all started from clearance plants..just depends on how green your thumb is..
