I have a single unit heat pump/AC that conditions 3 floors. unit in basement, Trane TWE042C140B1.
10 year old unit. leak in evap coil. from previous postings I see that my AC person is overcharging me for replacing the coil-$1700. so I am postponing this.
did consider replacing the whole unit but now considering replacing with 2 smaller units since upstairs is 3-4 degrees warmer and flow of air is minimal coming out of ceiling vents.
two questions. will I put strain on motor if I limit air flow in basement and first floor vents to push air to attic height and into second floor vents?
do I replace with two smaller units?

For sure use 2 units here. For the best cool and heat in the home on 3 floors.
