I definitely have a bad Flat ignitor on my Caloric Wall oven, Model # RWS214UD.
The ignitor was replaced once by a service technician and I remember saying to myself, very simple to do and that I would do it next time.
Well, next time happens to be now, 10 years later, so I do not remember how it was done.
I did as much research as possible and I even have installation instructions that came with the first ignitor that was replaced (P/N 309145).
The trouble is they just say, Remove ignitor assy from burner and disconnect wires.
Well, what exactly is required to "Remove ignitor assy from burner."
I removed the two bolts holding the mounting bracket to the burner and I removed the three nuts on the ignitor shield, the whole assy is lying loose, but I cannot slide the ignitor assy out, since the mount bracket hits the burner, thus preventing sliding the assembly out.
I need to know do I have to remove the ignitor shield assy screws from the burner mounting bracket, I thought I only had to loosen them. Or do I have to remove the two bolts mounting the burner and remove that first?
Oh, the ignitor does not readily move in the ignitor shield, so not sure about "sliding it out easily"..
I do have the breaker for the oven turned off, just cannot get old ignitor assy removed! Help!

Hello Jyes. Welcome to Gas Appliances topic and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
Entire burner assembly must be removed first. Burner secured in the front of the tube. Will be a securing pin and/or screw and nut securing burner to front lip of oven.
Back end of burner usually has tongue or tab that slides into a slot on the back wall of the oven. Most have this tongue/tab into slot design but not all models.
Once burner is loose and out, the igniter must be unplugged at the quick disconnect, which is behind the hole cover or the wires go beneath the lower panel inside the broiler compartment.
Simply hand trace the HSI (igniter) wires back to the connect. Than undo the connectors. New HSI will either have another quick disconnect end or it may only have two wires. If it only has wires than the end of the disconnect NOT on the igniter has to be wire snipped off using a wire snips. (Dikes)
All the instructions will come with the igniter. Read This Post For additional helpful information:
