Hi all!!

My AC unit comes on and blows cold air, but then the outside unit makes loud noise and the fan stops. I came here and reaed other posts and thought it might be the capacitor (I have a dual capacitor) so replaced it and it's still doing the same thing?? Does anyone have any idea what it may be ??

The top of the unit gets very hot to the touch, and so do the lines.

It sounds like the fan motor is shot.

Thanks so much Grady, that's what I was afraid of.
Serves me right for buying a Goodman!! it's only 6 years old.

This is such an amazing Forum!!

I learned all about capacitors here, and when I tried to order one, they thought I was just some dumb woman who didn't know what I was talking about, but because I leared so much here and used your info, they backed off:) Thanks!!

sounds like you are on a roll woman, get yourself a new condensor fan motor. Note: best to remove old one and take it with you, also be prepared to do a bit of wiring as you will probably wish to buy a universal replacement unless you have money and time to throwaway for a OEM.
