Ive read 95 degrees and I was told 110 by an electrican. Which is the proper temp to set my attic fans to come on? I am in the middle of replacing them so I figured this is a good time to verify thier temp setting. Thanks!

At 95 it will probably never turn off, even at night, at least not in the south, 110-120 is fine.

After I isntalled it last night I turned it turned it down to 80 before it would kick on. Im in Houston Texas so i know its going to get warmer towards august. Ill check to see if it kicked when I go home today.

Well the fan was working fine today and then later on I noticed it turned off but still in the middle of hte hot day. I go to play with the thermostat and nothing. I wired direct power to the fan bypassing the thermostat and nothing. Its brand new and just burned up!

Thanks ED im starting to think 100 is more ideal. Can you tell me if you have ever used a Home Depot MASTER FLOW brand blower motor setup? Mine has deffinately gone bad after one day of use.

Hard to say what to use today . Have used all kinds over the years. Some last longer than the rest. You just never know what brand will last for a lone time. Might try Broan and Air Vent. But HD should back the one you have.

Thanks Ed, I am actually looking at Broan but not sure where I can pick one up locally. The one I found online is 121$ which is fine but I dunno for sure if hte blade it has will fit up inside the dome/tube I currently have in place. Unless they are all a standard size. I think mine was between 13-14". The Broan I found is 14" so I assume it will fit. Talk about mad if I order it online and it doenst!

Just rule of thumb
Sq ft of attic X 0.7 = Cfm of fan

how do I figure the attic square footage? I know the house is 1800 without hte garage. My attic has some tall celings.. probably 10ft atleast. I have an 8ft ladder setup now to reach the dang attic fans.

Just use that 1800 sq ft of the home thats what you have in the attic.
