can anyone tell me how much a solid BC fir beam 6 in. by 12in. by 20 feet weigh?
also have 2 by 12 inch beam doubled up across span 16feet.
If I were to extend this beam to total 20 feet, by adding other 2 by 12's , on either side different lengths by process of laminating glueing and bolting which the end result would be a 20 foot apprx. 6 inch by 12 inch? this beam would be supported by two 6x6 posts at each end. can this beam be fairly strong to support portion of roof with snow loads?
